Romans 8:29-9:8

²⁹For whom ^(A)He foreknew, ^(B)He also predestined ^(C)to be conformed to the image of His Son, ^(D)that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. ³⁰Moreover whom He predestined, these He also ^(E)called; whom He called, these He also ^(F)justified; and whom He justified, these He also ^(G)glorified.

God’s Everlasting Love

³¹What then shall we say to these things? ^(H)If God is for us, who can be against us? ³²^(I)He who did not spare His own Son, but ^(J)delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? ³³Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? ^(K)It is God who justifies. ³⁴^(L)Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, ^(M)who is even at the right hand of God, ^(N)who also makes intercession for us. ³⁵Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶As it is written:

^(O)“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

³⁷^(P)Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. ³⁸For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor ^(Q)principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, ³⁹nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Israel’s Rejection of Christ

9 I ^(R)tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, ²^(S)that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart. ³For ^(T)I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my ^[a]countrymen according to the flesh, ⁴who are Israelites, ^(U)to whom pertain the adoption, ^(V)the glory, ^(W)the covenants, ^(X)the giving of the law, ^(Y)the service of God, and ^(Z)the promises; ⁵^(AA)of whom are the fathers and from ^(AB)whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, ^(AC)who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.

Israel’s Rejection and God’s Purpose^(AD)

⁶^(AE)But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For ^(AF)they are not all Israel who are of Israel, ⁷^(AG)nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, ^(AH)“In Isaac your seed shall be called.” ⁸That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but ^(AI)the children of the promise are counted as the seed.
